BARCELONA AGENDA 12.12.16 – 18.12.16

No matter where you are, no matter where you live, we will find the best plans for you in Barcelona. Covering from north to south, east to west, from markets, food, music, design to cultural plans, everything for free or less than 30€ per person. If you find better we will return you the money (joking :p). But seriously, if you find better let us know we want to include it in the agenda!

I pass by this place quite often on my way home and absolutely love it! The decoration is inspired in Gracia´s Festa Major counting with 300 colorful lanterns hanging from the ceiling, some tables made out of recycled elevators parts and some more incredible details.

generator international youth hostel

It looks like the perfect place to have a chilled coffee or bringing your laptop to do some work. The bar is part of the hostel and there is always a young and international atmosphere around it. The hostel looks pretty cool as well, if you are reading the blog from outside Barcelona and are looking for a place to stay this could be a perfect option. 😉

Art Santa Monica is quite active in Barcelona promoting creativity and art in a digital shape, following the tendencies and fashion of today´s society and the evolution of our 2.0 life style.

flux festival de video d´autor 2016

This is the 11th session of Flux Festival, a video creation festival focus on authors from  the city of Barcelona that work on this field. The protagonist of this edition will be Adolf Alcañiz, Antoni Muntadas and Rose Present, three artist with very different backgrounds mastering the fields of art, video art, video installations, documentary and audio-visual experimentation.

There is a huge tendency to video creation for the past years and this Festival looks like the perfect place to get some new ideas!

Keeping it in the artistic way there is the presentation of the coloring book Pintamonas in the unbeatable location of Fabrica Moritz.

presentation of the book pantomimas at fabrica moritz

Coloring books for adults are totally a thing now a days, love the feeling of being driven back to our childhood years with no worries and this boost of creativity that you reach when it´s only you, your coloring book, slow music and glass of wine. Probably the wine part is not very childish like but totally worth checking out this great event in Sant Antoni.

The plan that we presented on Wednesday has been moved to a different day so I would like to present three different options to enjoy the Wednesday after-work.

One is the Xmas Aperitivo with Jade Rolt, to start getting feisty atone of our favorite places in Barcelona, Metric Market. I know, is a bit far and a bit difficult to get there sometimes, but, isn´t it worth it? There will be Aperitivo Italiano for everybody, just saying…aperitivo italiano at metric marketMore info here.

The second plan is a Gin Lovers Xmas tasting at Slow,.I have very good memories of this place from a quick trip to Barcelona (I say memories but it was actually one of those nights that you feel you had fun but don´t remember much). Slow is presenting  a Mixologist Sessions with sometapas and surprise cocktail.

Third option, and cannot promise how full this one be, is the Birra and Pica Pica to celebrate the opening of Chivou´s Eixample. If you have been to any of their places around Barcelona I am sure this will be your main destination, remember they are usually not very big to fit many people! opening chivou´s eixample

What do you think about a little bar crawl around Barcelona? If you make it, please, send us a picture!

Have you ever been to any art auction? We haven´t and this looks so exciting! Tantàgora Serveis Culturals and Flic Festival will be putting in sale illustration from several artist starting from 20é to 150€ and you can bet for your favorite ones.

illustrations auction

For sure something different to do on a Thursday night and hopefully bringing home some cool designs to brag in front your friends.

Poble Nou Urban Distric is coming back for a magical night full of art, music, performances, food and many surprises.

art urban night at poble nou

Welcome to the night where anything can happen in Poble Nou and you can get closer to Barcelona´s art scene. There will be maps in the different venues so you can jump from one happening to another. Among the exhibitions, called my attention the one from Maria Prats, Sad city at L&B contemporary art gallery.

During  Friday and Saturday there will be a design market that is not part of the festival but it´s quite close to all the fuss so why not checking it out: My barrio Xmas pop up market at the beautiful Valkiria´s hub space

If you are feeling more musical and you are into indie music you will love the concerts organized by La Fonoteca at Freedonia. I love how those guys are betting for emerging music made in Barcelona since 2011 and bringing closer indie music to Barcelona´s night out.

indie music night at freedonia

The bands playing are Evripidis and his Tragedies, San Francisco and Matrimonio and could not tell you which one I like the best. They bring different and unique styles, quite retro and modern at the same time. For sure they will guarantee and amazing night 😉

As it becoming more and more common in Barcelona there are a few markets around the city during the weekend and it is quite difficult to choose among them but I think we will go for the Dress your Wall at Micelanea Bcn since it is oriented to the promotion of emerging art and gives us the chance to get unique pieces to dress our walls with national and international artists creations dedicated to different styles and limited editions.

There are a couple of markets that look quite cool as well, one of them Lost and found, that was one of the first markets I visited last year when I moved to Barcelona so it feels kind of special and the 5th Edition of Fantastic at Fundació Enric Miralles.

We usually don’t recommend big spaces in Barcelona, prefer to focus on emerging projects and  small and cozy places trying to support local commerce so you won´t see spaces as Razzmatazz very frequently in the agenda. This time we will make the exception for El y Ella DJ´s, two guys that from 2010 have been filling rooms with their energy and love for music and that have worked very hard to be where they are a the moment.

electronic indie music

They always put on a great show and people feel energized after any of their life performances. The best thing about them is that they really have fun on stage and that´s contagious. So if you were looking for the perfect Saturday night plan, here it is!

Getting everybody together during this period is a bit difficult so the event for Sunday has been moved to January. To keep going with the Vermouth theme there is a Vermouth and Blues event at Estación de Francia to move your body during this festive day with a lovely drink in your hand.

Lost and found market is happening during the whole weekend so it seems like a cool plan to spend the Sunday afternoon 😉

I guess some of our favorite Guiris are starting to head to their countries to spend those days with their families. Happy holidays everybody, we will stay here to keep you posted about what´s on in Barcelona 😉
