BARCELONA AGENDA 2.5.16-8.5.16
Greetings from Almería Guiris!
This week I will be working from home which is very refreshing, specially with the beach so close to the house! You all know I love Barcelona and how it became my new home, but who doesn’t enjoy a good family time?
Even if I am far I always have you in my heart and could´t skip a week agenda so I hope you enjoy this week´s selection!
MONDAY 2ND OF MAY |MAKE YOUR OWN BY LAMONO & NIKE SB
I am sure you have walk around Raval and have seen many people with their skate boards at the MACBA. I pass by many days and I think the vibe is great, lots of cool people having fun on the wheels and the bars around.
Taking advantage of the scenery the magazine Lamono (focus on skate sports) and Nike Skate Boarking will show their documentary about the life outside the skate board of some of the best world skaters at the CCCB. The presentation of this new project counts with a few short movies and a longer documentary where you will be exposed to Nike Rider’s life, their creations, their passions and their life motivations.
Of course, there will be some life music and drinks. Entrance is free so it looks like a pretty sweet Monday plan. You need to sing up here to reserve your seat!
TUESDAY 3RD OF MAY | PURPLE RAIN AT SALA PHENOMENA
Sala Phenomena define themselves as an old cinema, with the red seat and the bar to make you feel homey but with all the image and sound system that will make your experience unique. They convine the latest movies on cinemas with old films oriented to all kind of public.
Paying tribute to our beloved Prince they will be showing his first movie Purple Rain next Tuesday. As an anecdotic point, this is the first movie where he appears that wasn´t directed by him and market the point where he became huge in his career due to his unique skills.
More info about the cinema and movies here.
WEDNESDAY 4TH OF MAY | DINNER AT SASHA BAR
Sasha Bar is one of our favourites places in Poble Sec and Barcelona. We found them through a friend during their first anniversary a few months ago and since then we try to make to “El Sasha” at least once a month.
I was there with a friend last week on Wednesday night and we had the best time. Sasha Bar has been running the initiative “vino para todos” were you can get free wine with your dinner. We loved their tartar menu, the different international cuisine options and their “aperitivo”. We were quite full and couldn’t make it to the dessert but had a cheeky Gin and Tonic on a school day (ups). There was a table with two friends sitting next to us and we ended up getting shoots with them…Sasha Bar staff was very nice dealing with us until they closed!
THURSDAY 5TH OF MAY | #LIKERART BARCELONA
#Likerart is a new and super cool project in Barcelona. They propose 5 alternative art routes on the neighborhoods of El Clot, Poble Nou, Poble Sec, Casc Antic and Gracia. The purpose of this project is for everybody to learn more about the art and artist in every neighborhood.
#Likerart will be running from the 30th of April until the 28th of May with the aim that Barcelona´s citiciens can do all the routes and meet different artist and people along the way. The pieces of art are sold in a very reasonable price, between 25 and 60€. The best part comes at the end of the month when the organizers will throw a big party with all the artist participating where you are invited as well! More info here.
P.S: I love this kind of initiatives! Hats off for the organizers!
FRIDAY 6TH OF MAY | LA BEATERÍA AT FREEDONIA
I know, you are wondering what is La Beatería because it sounds quite religious…I had to do my research as well and the conclusion is that the guys running the event are quite cool since they created their own definition as something like “the place where people and sounds converge to create beats”.
Which makes total sense considering that this is a hip hop party dedicated to the hip hop community in the big room, and a “vinyl only session” in the small room with soul, funk rare groove and all the kinds. La Beatería organizes this party at Freedonia and entrance is only 3€. Do I need anything else to convince you? More info here 😉
SATURDAY 7TH MAY | VADEVERMUT AT CREC
Why there have to be events like this one when I am away?? I mean, I cannot complain to be working right in front of the sea but I really really like vermut!
If you are following the blog you might think I have a drinking problem…no worries I am just from the south and we like to enjoy life and drinking its always a pleasure (well not next day if you had too many…)
Back to the point, they have some drinks as vermut, sangria, cerveza and cava and some apperitives such as bravas, croquetas, tortillas, olivas, embutidos, quesos and pulpo. Everything watered with lots of music and good vibes. Enjoy it for me and let me know how it goes please!!
SUNDAY 8TH OF MAY | TEMPS DE FLORS GIRONA
If there is an event that you cannot miss in Catalunya (apart from Sant Jordi, of course) is Temps de Flors in Girona. Today I learned in church (family thing) that May is the month of the flowers and this event is something my catalan friends have been telling me about since I moved to Barcelona. It’s the perfect occasion to keep discovering different cities and parts of Catalunya and get more involved in their culture.
During the weekend the streets of Girona will be full of flowers, art, music and food. I saw some events going on from Barcelona with guided tours but I think you can do you own rute following this agenda. It is beautiful to get lost sometimes 😉
Full agenda one more week, I hope you keep enjoying it as much as I like to write it! Stay tuned and have fun ☮ & ♥
