BARCELONA AGENDA 18.4.16- 24.4.16
Is it only me or Barcelona looks amazing in Spring? I am loving the new season, the longer days and this extra energy that you get with the sunshine.
If you are in Barcelona next week you can consider yourself lucky since we will be celebrating one of the biggest traditions in the city, Sant Jordi. There will be flowers and books all around the city, specially in Las Ramblas and several events to commemorate the World Book Day.
Let´s take advantage of the extra energy and weather to keep discovering the alternative Barcelona together 😉
MONDAY 18TH APRIL | YOGA & CONCEPT AT SA TRAMUNTANA
If you are on Facebook and like to keep up to date with all the events going on in Barcelona you must know that there are like 1000 different Yoga events every week. I really like the “concept” about this one (did you see how I play with the words?).
The project is a fusion between Santísimo, Batlló Concept and Maimoon Retreats, three different companies that work around hand made, design and conscious life. The event will start with a Vinyasa Yoga class at Sa Tramuntana and the room is decorated by Batlló Concept.
After the class there will be some surprise food and yogi tea, and they will also draw a MAMBA lamp from Batlló Concept. The places are limited and you need to book in the following email firstname.lastname@example.org.
TUESDAY 19TH APRIL | VINYES & VINYETES AT LA PAISANA DE CASA GRACIA
This event reunites a few of my favourite’s things to do: reading, drinking, laughing and, of course, Casa Gracia. La Festival is a winery and vineyard shop that organised lots of events around Barcelona making people enjoy and learn a bit more about wine.
With the intention to celebrate Sant Jordi, this time they are bringing the editor Luis Martínez de Norma that will be discussing with the wine expert Patricia de Golferichs the similarities between “vinyes & vinyetes” (comic vignettes and vines). This is a perfect occasion to grab a comic book as a present to give to your loved ones on the 23rd of April. Of course, all the event will be watered with good amounts of wine. Price, only 12€ to pay when you get there 😉
P.S: everything will be in Catalan so man up because you won´t find a better place to get involved in the Catalan culture!
WEDNESDAY 20th APRIL | NOMAD TALKS: HOW TO RUN YOUR BUSINESS FROM A LAND ROVER
A saw this event on Meet up and Facebook and find it super interesting! A couple of months ago I met a very talented young american girl called Paige Caluccio. She told me that she was living 6 months in San Francisco and another 6 months travelling the world while working since she doesn’t need a physical office. That idea got into me and I think its extremely cool (and maybe a bit exhausting).
The nomad talk happening this week that will be run by Fabian Dittrich who managed his start up from the back of a Land Rover in South America. He had to deal with problems such as internet connection and car troubles using creativity and imagination all the way through.
The event is free and sponsored by Estrella Damn, so you will have the chance to listen to Fabian experiences and tips while enjoy some fresh beer and good company. Remember to sign up here!
THURSDAY 21ST APRIL | DAWADOO AFTERWORK AT LE JOURNAL
Around a month and a half ago Eduardo Peire, the founder of the social platform Dawadoo, contacted me to talk about his project. He is a super interesting person, funny and extremely friendly. After a few years working abroad he is back in Barcelona and started developing Dawadoo, a new application where people can easily register and try to make any kind of plans with other people around their area. The plans involve from doing sports, excursions, shopping, tourism or even party together.
He is organizing some events himself, this week he will be at Le Journal doing an informal Afterwook for anyone who wants to pass by and say hello. I am sure he will have some good stories to share and it will be a lot of fun. Guiris en Barcelona will be there as well so see you next week!
FRIDAY 22ND APRIL | FERIA DE ABRIL EN BARCELONA
And you were crying because you couldn’t go to Seville to celebrate “La Feria de Abril”… my friend cry no more because you can celebrate it here in Barcelona!
From the 22nd to the 28th of April you can go to El Parc del Fòrum to enjoy this festival that started 45 years ago as a commemoration to all the people from the south working in Catalunya. The schedule is from 6.30pm until 3.30am during the week and from 10 am until 3.30 am during the weekend.
There will be music, food, drinks, people dressing up as “flamencos” and all the paraphernalia that makes this kind of festivals unique!
SATURDAY 23RD APRIL | SANT JORDI MUSICAL
Every single Catalan person is totally in love with Sant Jordi. All I hear from work colleges and friends is: “OMG, cannot wait for Saturday”, “you will love it”, “it´s my favorite day of the year”, “Barcelona looks amazing on the 23rd”, etc, etc.
This is my first Sant Jordi in Barcelona and the expectations are very high. I love reading so it looks like a perfect thing to do on a Saturday, visit Las Ramblas full of books and flowers and hopefully joining the event from Estrella Damn. SUNDAY 24TH APRIL | PICNIC CIRCOTRONIC
Another one of the many things I love about Barcelona is the “hippie” atmosphere with lots of people in the street and parks doing circus sports. This free festival on Sunday invites you to a day full of music, body painting and juggle.
If you have your own Cariocas, diabolo, hula hoop, apo, juggling, etc you can bring them along. Music will come by the hand of:
13:00-14:30H PD Ratman folk, reggae, ska, rock/pop
14:30-16:00H Pd Ruf techno, reggae, ska
16:00-17:30H DJ Horny’s 80
That´s the fun agenda for this week, we hope you have enough energy to try out at least a couple of the events that we propose! Thank you everybody for reading us and your awesome feedback! ☮ & ♥
