Time moves so quick in a city like Barcelona! winter is almost over and spring is around the corner! I hope that you enjoyed the “winter season” and spent some time in the mountain because from now on everything moves around the coast.
I have a rather quiet agenda for you this week, its end of the month and I know you are already broke so let’s keep it simple and most importantly, cheap!
MONDAY 22.2.16| MERCAT DEL ENCANTS
Mercat del Encants is one of the oldest markets in Europe, they open only some days of the week and you can find all kind of vintage and cool stuff. On Mondays you can attend a public auction, yeah like in the MTV American programs!
Av. Meridiana, 69
Opening hours : Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat from 9am to 8pm // Public Auction: from 8:00 am to 9:30 pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday
TUESDAY 23.2.16 | CARRER BLAI
One of my favourite places in Barcelona is Carrer Blai in Poble Sec. If you haven’t been there yet you have to! It’s a street full of small bars that serve “pinchos”, small pieces of haven usually on the top of a bread toast.
There are different types of food along the street with Arabic, Asian or Spanish style. Drinks are very affordable so you can have a few drinks and dinner for less than 10€. The atmosphere is quite cool as well, you will find a young and alternative bunch of people every day of the week.
WEDNESDAY 24.2.16 | CASA CAMARÓN
We went to Casa Camarón a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it! Well I am from the south so obviously going to this kind of events moves something special inside me.
Roger de flor 230
Every Wednesday Casa Camarón offers a free Sevillanas Show, you only need to book a table or walk in and have some drinks and tapas if you are hungry!
THURSDAY 25.2.16 | EXHIBITION ROOM BACKGROUND
Fernando Vicente is one of the most notorious artist in Spain at the moment. With collaborations in newspapers, magazines and publishers such as Gentleman, Playboy, Cosmopolitan and Espasa, he is coming to Barcelona to present his work Venus at Background Store & Gallery.
Background C/ Joaquin Costa 38
Venus used gorgeous and empowered women as a modern adaptation to the classical art around the universal idea of life, dead and time. He is showing his work through the opposition between humans and machines, organic and mechanic, beauty and ugliness, natural and artificial and I cannot wait for Thursday to see this exhibition!
FRIDAY 26.2.16 | CONCERT ALICE AND THE WONDERS
Alice and the Wonders are coming to Sala Bikini on Friday for 10€!! If you don’t have the pleasure to know them yet, they play music inspired in the swing of the 30´s and 40´s and the rhythm & blues of the 50´s and 60´s.
Sala Bikini Av. Diagonal, 547
SATURDAY 27.2.16 | MARSELLA BAR
Another one of my favourites! I went there for first time in one of my visits to Barcelona two years ago and now we are regulars. Marsella is famous for being the oldest bar in Barcelona and one of the few places that still serves absinthe.
Carrer de Sant Pau, 65
The bar was opened in 1820 and among its main clients Marsella bar counted with artist as Dali, Picasso, Gaudi or Hemmingay. Vicky Christina Barcelona from Woody Allen was recorded there as well! Now a days the atmosphere is not as selected and the area is a bit dodgy but for sure is a good place to visit during your alcoholic Saturday nights.
SUNDAY 28.2.16 | TRIP TO GIRONA, MUSEO DALI AND BESALU
This adventure organized by Barcelona Trips looks just amazing. Girona, its an stunning medieval city (Game of Thrones was recorded there recently), the Dali Museum is from my point of view the best piece of art in the whole Cataluña and I haven’t been the Besalu, but Im sure is cool haha.
Here you can find all the information about the trip with schedule and prices (only 22€!!)
The coolest thing is that this kind of trips are prepared for erasmus, expats
and tourist so you can meet a lot of cool people along the way 😉
I hope you enjoyed this week proposal! Like, comment and share ☮ & ♥
